While In The Desert
It's also known as the wilderness, and it's a place for intense experiences. This is what it meant for Elisha, Haggar, Ismael, and Moses.
It marked a destiny that would not change or shift, but it would come to completion.
There have been many moments in desert time in my life, and I can think of the changes that have surfaced from them to the point that I recognize when en route. I thank God for every desert He has allowed in my life because all of them have made me a better Christian, not only for me but also for those people I will be reaching for God's Kingdom.
Through all my experiences, I was awakened a little more to God's will for my life. I can truly say that when I'm in that stage in my life, I resist. Still, I know that's the way I get molded, broken, and put together again, and when you allow God to take you to that place of solitude something great will happen. Whether this solitude means going away from your inner family circle so a time or a time of separation that looks like a disconnection of some sort and you will know when that time is, know that you must come with a humble heart and a contrite spirit, your attitude is very important when that time comes for you.
God might deal with you differently, but I assure you, whichever way He chooses, you will know it's Him and it will change you forever. Elisha was taken to the desert so he could learn more about who he was and what he needed to do. God guided him every step of the way. Hagar and her son were given a promise, and Moses was given instructions.
We are called to be more for the kingdom of God, and sometimes we do not comprehend the grand picture but God in His love and grace gives is a small piece at a time to make sure we understand the reason we feel the way we do or to clarify some things we already know about ourselves. As human beings, we are changing, whether it is the hairstyle, style of clothes, or the car we drive, and those changes are due to seasons in our lives, but the changes that come from time spent in the desert are spiritual and eternal. My journey began in 1977, I've come a long way but I can truly say that my desire to please God in every area of my life has been on full throttle from the beginning. Today I can testify that that desire is still there and sometimes I have to restrain myself and ask the Lord for direction to make sure I'm on the right track. Once I had a dream I was walking down a long hall, with white walls, and there were many doors on both sides. I was given a stack of music records, and as I walked that hallway, I threw a recording into every open door. So think, a record in that time was a recorded message, a song. We have the best-recorded message of all time, the Bible is that recording, and every door open is every heart that is receptive to the message being given. Wow, that only took me 40 to understand. But to God be the glory, all the pieces of the puzzle are beginning to look like a beautiful scene.
So, when in the desert, do like the desert people do, dress appropriately (Holy Spirit), equip yourself with water (the word of God), and follow the signs on the sand (God's direction).
I don't know where you are in your Christian Walk, but when you find yourself walking into the desert, embrace it without fear because the route has already been set. God will not leave you an orphan; He will promise to walk beside you and carry you when you can't.
