Choose surrender over fear
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
When trials come, we are often told, “Surrender it to the Lord.” Yet the struggle between the flesh and the spirit is real and unavoidable. The difference is not in whether the battle exists—but in how we respond to it.
Fear is one of the enemy’s most effective weapons. When it takes hold, it clouds the mind, steals peace, and robs us of rest. The struggle becomes overwhelming. But Jesus has already declared victory over this world. The battle begins in the mind, and if it is not confronted there, it will settle into the heart.
The mind is complex, but the One who created it understands it completely. God knows exactly how we overcome. He calls us to surrender everything that stands in the way of serving Him freely—without fear, without doubt, without hesitation.
Is surrender easy? No. It is far easier to talk about than to live out. As human beings, we tend to cling tightly to what is familiar, as though letting go means losing everything. But God’s promises remind us otherwise. His Word—the Bible—is our guide and foundation. It teaches us who we are, whose we are, and how deeply we are loved.
We have been given authority as children of God—authority even greater than that given to angels. But authority must be exercised daily, because our adversary never rests.
Jesus warned us that trials would come. They become overwhelming when we lose sight of our identity and calling—when we forget who called us, why He called us, and what He has equipped us to do. In those moments, fear begins to whisper:
You can’t do this.
You’re not equipped.
It’s not God’s time.
There isn’t enough time.
But the truth stands firm:
Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
Surrender means more than letting go—it means returning, submitting, and trusting. It is choosing to lay down fear and step back onto the path God has set before you.
So ask yourself honestly:
Are you ready to submit to God, no matter the cost?
Are you ready to return fully to the Father?
Are you willing to release what you know is not good for you?
Are you ready to surrender even your stubbornness?
James 4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Yes—even stubbornness. Because if we are honest, we all wrestle with it. Yet God, in His unfailing love, stands ready to forgive and receive us with open arms. The question is not whether He is ready—the question is whether we are willing.
Choose surrender without fear.
None of us are perfect, and growth requires honesty. Words on a page only carry power when they are lived out. True transformation begins with complete surrender to the Father.
Just as children may not understand the guidance they receive until later, we may not always understand God’s ways in the moment. But His plans are always for our good.
No one can force open your heart. Surrender is a choice—yours alone.

No one can force open your heart. Surrender is a choice—yours alone. There is a hymn many know, “I Surrender All.” Yet surrender is more than a song—it is a daily decision, a way of living.
We often hear:
“Practice what you preach.”
“Believe what you preach.”
But these words only hold weight when we live them out.
We spend years learning in school, yet education does not end at graduation. In the same way, we may hear God’s Word for years, but if we do not apply it, we have not truly embraced it.
So we return to the question:
What are you willing to surrender to step into the purpose God created for you?
Surrender may be a simple word, but it carries life-changing power. Without it, we repeat cycles without growth. With it, transformation begins.
“For God, all things are possible,”—but He moves through willing hearts.
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
He cannot renew what we refuse to release. He cannot reshape what we will not place in His hands.
Just as clay cannot determine its own form, we cannot become who we are meant to be unless we allow the Potter to shape us.
So ask yourself:
What is holding you back today?
Nothing is worth standing in the way of becoming a renewed, restored, and refined woman of God. There is so much ahead of you—do not be afraid. Trust Him.
He will carry you through the fire and bring you out stronger—like a vessel made new, purified and whole.
Choose surrender over fear.
